Analytics only, and only if you accept
The short version
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It is the only tracking on the site. It does not run until you accept it, so nothing is stored on your device before you choose. There are no advertising pixels, no remarketing tags, no embedded maps and no embedded video.
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, consent is required before non-essential cookies are set. A banner asks when you first arrive. Rejecting takes one click, exactly like accepting. If you reject, or simply ignore the banner, nothing is set and nothing about your visit reaches Google.

Your choice is remembered by this browser alone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. If you reject after having accepted, the two cookies below are deleted straight away.
The cookies this site can set
Both are set by Google Analytics, not by JPS Surfacing, and only once you have accepted. Neither holds your name, your email address, or anything else you type into the site.
- _ga tells one browser apart from another, by storing a randomly generated number. It is what allows the figures to show a returning visit rather than a new one.
- _ga_J5BJTQW3ZP keeps track of the current visit for this website's analytics account, so one visit is not counted several times.
Both last up to 400 days in Chrome, and some browsers shorten that considerably. You can remove them at any time by rejecting analytics above, or by clearing site data in your browser.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, usually so it can recognise you on a later visit or measure how the site is used. Similar technologies include local storage, tracking pixels and device fingerprinting. Apart from the two cookies above, and remembering your cookie choice itself, this site uses none of them.
Other things worth knowing
- The typefaces used on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. That sets no cookies, but Google does receive your IP address in order to send the font files. This happens on every page, whatever you choose here.
- The quote form sends your enquiry by email. It does not create a session or store anything in your browser.
- Our web host may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. These are not cookies, and they are not used to profile visitors.
